Former Senegalese international Omar Daf has been appointed coach of Amiens, replacing Patrice Descamps, who himself succeeded Philippe Hinschberger at the end of the season, the Ligue 2 club announced in a statement released on Tuesday.

Omar Daf, ex-coach of Sochaux and Dijon, signed “for the next two seasons” with an option for an additional year, specifies the club.

“With his experience as a professional player and his passion for football, Omar brings with him valuable expertise that will be beneficial to our team,” said the Picard club.

Aged 46, the former defender passed by Sochaux and Brest played 55 times in selection with the Lions of Teranga. He led the Dijon club this season but was dismissed in early April after a series of poor results.

Amiens, after a good start to the season (2nd after the 11th day of Ligue 2), for its part stalled during the second half of the championship to finish in 12th place.
