Zinedine Zidane wants to find a bench in the coming months but assures “not knowing his next destination”. This is what the former number 10 legend of the Blues told GQ. In a long portrait dedicated to him, the magazine visited him in Madrid. During the conversation, the former Real Madrid coach spoke about his future.

Regularly associated with PSG, Manchester United or Juventus Turin, his former club, Zidane refuted these approaches and took the opportunity to discuss the French team. Often presented as the future coach of the Blues, to the detriment of Didier Deschamps, he declares: “I have already said often that when you knew the French team as a player and you become a coach, it’s just logical to think about it. But now is not the time.” A clear message that puts an end (for the moment?) to the many negotiations on his tricolor future.

The 50-year-old also reflected on his experience at Real Madrid as a coach. “I don’t prepare things in general, I do what I feel. As for my first stop in Madrid. We had won a lot of things and I really needed to breathe. And then eight months later, after an interval which had been beneficial to me on a personal level, the president called me and I plunged back immediately,” he recalled.
