The match between Brazil and Spain will be played at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium in Madrid. The match is part of a campaign against racism in stadiums. Last May the Brazilian star of Real Madrid, Vinicius Jr, was the victim of racial insults.

“It is important to understand that harsher sanctions must be applied by the football authorities for proven acts of racism,” said the president of the Spanish Federation Luis Rubiales. Fines are not enough. The clubs, too, must be accountable. The Brazilian Federation was the first to adopt stricter sanctions, such as the withdrawal of points in the Championship standings, the closure of stands or expulsion from the stadium for life. We must set up a global campaign to fight against this scourge that shames our sport.
