In tears after Toulon’s victory on Friday evening in the Challenge Cup final, the South African world champion wants to stay in the Var. This is what Cheslin Kolbe told Var-matin, in response to departure rumors that send him to Japan.

“I am in contract until 2024 and I hope to be able to go to the end of the latter, assures the winger. I want to stay in Toulon. (…) I don’t control everything that will happen next. Because I’m not the only one to decide. And I imagine that many things come into play… But, as far as I’m concerned, I hope to go at least until the end of my contract, in June 2024.

Regularly disturbed by physical glitches, Cheslin Kolbe regrets not having yet been able to bring everything he would have liked to the RCT. “Since my arrival in Toulon, I have not been able to give what I wanted for this jersey. I know that we can’t control everything, but the injuries pained me a lot, upset me…”
