“There is a real lack of competent people”: Frenchman Fabio Quartararo, only 16th in qualifying and 12th in the sprint of the Spanish GP, fourth round of the MotoGP season, tackled his team, Yamaha, on Saturday in Jerez at the end a very disappointing day.
“It’s not the fact of finishing this far, but the feeling that you can go much faster and not being able to do it and not finding any solution, that’s what drives me crazy”, explained the 2021 world champion.

Eliminated in repechage on Saturday morning after disappointing qualifying practice on Friday (16th time), Quartararo, who will only start in 16th position on the starting grid on Sunday, also attacked his Italian teammate Franco Morbidelli.
The latter caused a crash at the second corner of the sprint, dragging down three other drivers and causing the race to be interrupted when the Frenchman had made a superb start by gaining eight places. “What happened in the race with Francky (Morbidelli), it must not happen. Overtaking like that from the first lap as if we were fighting for victory… We lost a second for nothing, for a 16th place… already just that, it’s nonsense and there to anyone who doesn’t say anything, it’s weird…”, lamented ‘El Diablo’.
“There is a red flag on the first lap and the person who has to manage it doesn’t even know if I have to start from 16th position… We are in the world championship, (we are the official Yamaha team). .sincerely, for me, there is really a lack of competent people” concluded the Niçois during a press briefing. After Saturday’s sprint, Quartararo fell to ninth place overall with 34 units on the clock. He is respectively 28 and 31 lengths behind the reigning world champion Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati) and the leader Marco Bezzecchi (Ducati-VR46).
