“We had an exhaust problem so I couldn’t recover the energy and I had no engine power. There was a risk of fire starting on the car so I had to stop on the first lap. Of course it’s clearly not our weekend at the moment… We’re all trying to do the best we can but unfortunately that hasn’t happened since the first free practice. We will focus on the race this afternoon and tomorrow. I have only been able to do 4 or 5 laps since the start of the weekend so it will be very important this afternoon to get as much information as possible for Sunday’s race. I’m confident because I know that we usually have a good car in the race, but for sure it’s very complicated at the moment. We have to look ahead, a lot can happen,” said Pierre Gasly, 19th in qualifying for the sprint race.
