The MotoGP Grand Prix of Kazakhstan, scheduled for July 9, is canceled and will not be replaced, the FIM (International Motorcycling Federation) announced on Wednesday.
“Ongoing homologation works for the circuit, coupled with global operational challenges, have forced the cancellation of the 2023 edition,” the FIM said in a statement, without giving any further details.
Kazakhstan was to host a motorcycle Grand Prix for the first time this season, on the Sokol circuit. “MotoGP is looking forward to going to the international circuit of Sokol in 2024”, adds the FIM. The current season will therefore be contested over 20 Grand Prix in principle, including that of India, another novelty on the circuit this year. Three have already been raced, and the next is scheduled for Spain in Jerez on April 30.
