A few days ago Mathieu Lartot, sports journalist on France Télévisions and commentator on the matches of the XV of France, announced that he would be absent for a while to fight cancer a second time. He will therefore not be present for the rest of the Champions Cup, while the semi-finals will take place next weekend. For Midi Olympique he confided in his fight of the last few weeks.

If he took the time to announce it after the end of the Six Nations Tournament, which he commented on alongside Dimitri Yachvili, Mathieu Lartot experienced an ordeal during the end of the competition.

“I lived through a fairly difficult Tournament: I couldn’t walk without taking anti-inflammatories, I slept very badly at night because of the pain… There, I told myself that something was wrong but I gritted my teeth, I was a little stupid: I wanted to finish the Tournament that’s all, “explains the presenter of Stage 2.

Since his adolescence, he has suffered from synovialosarcoma, a malignant tumor that is located in the knee joints. To facilitate his recovery, Matthieu Lartot chose amputation for “a question of survival”.

“I’m starting chemo on Monday. Behind that, I will have three weeks to restore my immunity that the first drugs will have destroyed me, he explains. Afterwards, it will be the surgical act (amputation) and finally, the equipment and rehabilitation. I give myself all summer to acclimatize to my new mobility and to be able to attend the opening match of the World Cup as a supporter of the XV of France.
