Scares on the side of Chalon. European champion with the Blues in 2013, Mike Gelabale continues his career with the Burgundy club, at 39 years old. His 2022-23 season, however, is already over. And for good reason, the ex-international tricolor suffered a stroke earlier this week. He explains this in a press release, now that the risks seem to have been eliminated. “During Monday morning’s training session, I experienced such symptoms that I was taken to the emergency room at Chalon hospital. The MRI then detected a stroke. Fortunately caught in time, I was treated immediately and underwent additional examinations in the intensive care unit and then in neurology. Today, I am pleased to announce that I am back home,” said the former NBAer.

And to add, projecting himself on the future: “However, I will have to rest for several weeks before resuming a professional activity and unfortunately will not be able to return for the end of the season. I have good hope that the medical will gradually subside, which therefore does not exclude a return to the courts when I am allowed to do so. Trained in Cholet, then passed through Spain, Russia, Belgium, Croatia and of course the NBA, without forgetting Asvel, Strasbourg, Limoges and Le Mans in France, Mike Gelabale wore the jersey of the team of France 156 times. He has been playing at Chalon, now a resident of Pro B, since the 2017-18 season.
