The expansion of Manchester City’s North Stand will be part of a series of improvements in and around the stadium, including a 3,000-seat indoor Fan Zone, a sky bar, a 400-bed hotel and a new museum. “For several months, we have been developing concepts and plans to provide fans with a first-class experience and a year-round entertainment and leisure destination at the Etihad Stadium. We are delighted to have submitted a planning application to Manchester City Council,” Manchester City Chief Operating Officer Danny Wilson said in a statement.

“As with all club development projects, the priority is to ensure that the local community benefits and we believe these proposals will provide long-term economic and social opportunities.” Manchester City’s stadium, originally built to host the 2002 Commonwealth Games, is currently only the fifth largest by capacity in the Premier League, with Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal and West Ham United all being The city says the proposed developments represent an investment of more than 300 million pounds ($372.96 million) in east Manchester, which could create 2,600 new jobs for locals. The work should last three years.
