TOPS
Double goalscorer, the young Belgian striker from Stade Rennais practically bent the fate of the match (3-0 victory against Reims) all by himself in 18 minutes. A controlled start to the match from Rennes which finally put an end to the suspense thanks to Doku’s first goal very early in the 10th minute on a fatal cross shot for Yehvann Diouf, the Reims goalkeeper. The second came eight minutes later on a fine serve from Birger Meling. Doku signs his first double of the season.
In general, the offensive animation and the pressing of the Rennais will have allowed them a permanent peace of mind. Gouiri, Doku, Kalimuendo and even Ugochukwo or even Bourigeaud all endangered Yehvann Diouf throughout the game. The final score of 3-0 could even seem flattering for the Champenois, as Still’s players have not played at the usual level.
FLOPS
The 4th top scorer in the Ligue 1 championship was not easy to find on the front line of the Reims attack. Usual permanent danger for the defenses of France with his 18 goals this season, Balogun did not bother Theate and Omari much and even less Steve Mandanda. The best opportunity in Reims was the work of Marshall Munetsi.
In the first half, beyond Jérémy Doku’s two very quick goals, the loss of balls and placement errors made the Stade de Reims defense unrecognizable. Usually clean and full of desire, the Champagne rear guard showed nothing in the first period before trying to wake up in the second, in vain.
