There is once again a lot to talk about at Hamburger SV. Almost traditionally, the North Germans threaten to gamble away promotion to the Bundesliga in spring, most recently there were two games without a win. In addition, a dispute has broken out behind the scenes, including strong criticism from the cosmos of major shareholder Klaus-Michael Kühne. Right in the middle: the controversial President Marcell Jansen. The 37-year-old has been in office since 2019.

Question: Mr. Jansen, the nature of the 2nd league is taking its course again: Winter is hardly over when HSV gets the spring flutter, gambles away promotion and looks down the drain in summer. Or what is your sporting assessment?

Marcell Jansen: My assessment sounds much more positive. Because the team works, sticks together and so does the coaching team. I trust this entity. We are currently only one point behind a direct promotion place. And I’m convinced that HSV will rise.

Question: Let’s talk about Klaus-Michael Kühne. Because in an interview with “Manager-Magazine” he said that you would stand and act against him. But, as he says: “The battle is not over yet!” Are threats and war vocabulary the new tone at HSV?
