A man was found seriously injured in front of a municipal residential accommodation in Hamburg-Schnelsen on Sunday and died shortly afterwards. There is a suspicion of a homicide, said a police spokesman. According to dpa information, the man suffered stab wounds. A 35-year-old suspect was arrested, it said.

Passers-by found the seriously injured man on the street in front of the residential accommodation in the morning and alerted the police, the spokesman said. The officials would have tried to resuscitate the man. An ambulance was later only able to determine his death. The police spokesman was initially unable to say anything about the identity of the man. This was still not clearly clarified in the afternoon.

Investigations by the criminal police quickly led to the 35-year-old German. The suspect did not resist when he was arrested, the spokesman said. The homicide squad has started the investigation.

According to dpa information, the suspect lives in the accommodation. Nothing was initially known about the background to the alleged dispute between the men. According to a report by the “Hamburger Abendblatt”, which first reported on the case, traces of blood could be seen on Am Dänenstein street and in the stairwell of the residential complex.
