The EU wants to ensure that companies check the creditworthiness of all those customers who buy on account on the Internet more strictly. That could change the way people shop in Germany. With an unintended consequence: the popular purchase on account could be dropped – it is considered the safest protection against dubious providers and problems with returns on the Internet.
