Around 21 years after a murder at a US military base in Hanau, a suspect has been arrested in the United States. The 42-year-old ex-soldier is said to have killed a comrade in November 2001, according to the US Department of Justice. The “image” had previously reported on the arrest.
The US federal police FBI is investigating in the case, the ministry announced on Thursday. The 42-year-old is accused of murder. If convicted, the man faces life imprisonment. The arrest was made on Thursday in the US state of Florida. The Ministry of Justice did not provide any further information about the possible course of events and motive.
According to the “Bild” report, the US-American who was killed was employed as a cook in the “Fliegerhorst Kaserne”, which was located between Hanau and Erlensee. The airfield has since been abandoned.
