After a police officer in Berlin shot a suspected young shoplifter, the criminal police are still investigating the question of guilt and the course of events. The central question is whether firing the shot at the 14-year-old suspect in a shop in the main train station on Saturday was lawful and proportionate.

A police spokesman said that video recordings from the branch of the drugstore chain and from the train station were also secured during the investigations of a murder commission by the Berlin criminal police. However, the incident happened in an adjoining room of the store, where probably no cameras were running. However, witnesses should also be questioned.

A federal police officer shot the youth. Police wanted to arrest the alleged thief, who was being held by a store detective. According to the federal police, she had a knife with her and attacked the police officers. The emergency services used tear gas and a police officer fired.

According to the police, the teenager was slightly hit and injured in the hand or arm. In such cases, investigations into the police officer who shot are taken over by a homicide squad of the State Criminal Police Office.
