Three Sevilla FC fans were killed in a road accident on Thursday while traveling to Madrid to watch their team’s Copa del Rey quarter-final against Atlético Madrid.

“Sevilla deeply deplores the death of three Sevillian supporters this morning in a road accident while they were traveling to Madrid to attend this (Thursday) evening’s match,” the club wrote in a statement. “The club is with their families and friends in these difficult times. In their memory, the players will wear a black armband,” he added.

Seville asked the Spanish football federation to respect a minute of silence before this last quarter-final, which kicks off at 6:30 p.m. The accident occurred on the A4 highway near the Despenaperros natural park, about 270 kilometers south of Madrid, according to the Spanish press.
