Krefeld, also known as the city of velvet and silk because a corresponding industry developed in the city in the 18th and 19th centuries, will be around 650 years old in 2023. Krefeld is by no means the oldest city in the state – Neuss, Cologne and Bonn, for example, can look back on thousands of years of history.
