After the knife attack in a gas station in Lengerich, Münsterland (Steinfurt district), the victim, the 54-year-old tenant of the gas station, died. The 43-year-old is said to have rammed a knife into the 54-year-old’s stomach several times. A police officer who actually only wanted to fill up his patrol car noticed the incident and intervened. He shot the 43-year-old several times with his service weapon and critically injured him.
According to initial findings, the 43-year-old had only harassed an employee behind the counter. Then the tenant of the woman should have come to help. After a brief scuffle, the 43-year-old is said to have suddenly stabbed him. A customer screamed for help, alerting the police officer who happened to be there to the attack.
The police officer, who actually only wanted to fill up his patrol car, saw the 43-year-old stabbing the 54-year-old gas station operator in the sales room again and again. He shot several times with his service weapon and seriously injured the perpetrator. This had to be operated on.
After the bloody attack in Lengerich, the alleged perpetrator is being investigated for attempted homicide. The 43-year-old has not yet been heard, said a spokesman for the Münster public prosecutor on Thursday.
