The mayor of the small French town of Périers wants to buy all students a fleece jacket because the heating in the schools is being turned down because of the energy crisis. “The students have to feel good in order to learn,” said the mayor of the Normandy town, Gabriel Daube, to the France Bleu broadcaster.

“I believe that the manageable expense for the fleece jackets contributes to the well-being of the students and thus to their general well-being,” he continues. It costs the community 6,000 euros to buy a fleece jacket for each of the 350 students. He thinks a temperature of 19 degrees in the classes is acceptable, but when it gets very cold, the fleece is a help.
