FC St. Pauli receives a welcome guest at the Millerntor on Sunday. At home, Hamburg have won all four of their past games against SV Sandhausen in the 2nd Bundesliga. “We want to pose problems for Sandhausen and stress them out,” said coach Timo Schultz on the Friday before the game (Sunday, 1:30 p.m. / Sky). His team is unbeaten in front of their home crowd this season. And the sand houses have all lost their three games abroad.
“We’ll have more of the ball and try to break their back row,” revealed Schultz. In contrast to FC St. Pauli, Paderborn does not rely on running strength. “If a team has their style of play, then you don’t need the giant running distance. In your own 16 it depends on the duel strength,” said the coach.
In the last two games, the coach was satisfied with the performances of his team, despite two draws. “We played well against Paderborn and Fürth,” he said. However, he dislikes one thing: “We have already conceded five goals. This is definitely too much.”
Schultz currently has no personnel problems. Christopher Avevor, who was injured for almost two years, is also making progress. Nikola Vasilj will guard the goal again after surviving a broken finger. “I think Nikola can be a very important factor with the way he stands in the back, with the calm he exudes. I hope that this will have a positive effect on the team.”
The club is calling for a car-free match day. The fans should arrive on foot, by bus, train and bicycle. The team will travel from the hotel quarters to the stadium in an HVV electric bus.
