On December 20, Ezequiel Lavezzi was in hospital, after what his family described as a “domestic accident”. Suffering from a broken collarbone and several superficial cuts, the reality would ultimately be quite different.
After various hypotheses put forward, such as the fall from a ladder or a fight with her brother, the Argentine journalist Estefania Berardi provided new information in the show of Carmen Barbieri, an Argentine actress. “Suddenly Pocho became very nervous. He started hearing voices and he thought they were looking for him or chasing him. He was really scared,” she described in comments broadcast by the Spanish daily Marca.

The former Parisian then “was so scared, and it became so serious that he grabbed a pair of scissors and started to hurt himself. His brother tried to calm him down and control the situation. Pocho is tall, that’s when the situation got worse and he ended up injuring his collarbone.
A first episode followed by a second some time later, explained lawyer Lucas Bertero, when his family had decided to transport Lavezzi by plane to Buenos Aires: “When they arrived at the airport, he had a similar episode, and in those conditions he couldn’t go down because it was dangerous even for the crew, so they drugged him. It has a sort of mystical thrust. He started shouting praises or requests to God.”
In December, a few days after Lavezzi’s hospitalization, his son Tomas asked to stop “inventing versions, because there is a family behind it”. Information which does not reassure about the mental health of the former Argentinian international, who is regularly the subject of rumors.
