A young student from the French city of Rennes, so certainly not looking forward to getting a visit by his parents last week. In fact, he had so little desire to see his mother and father, that he created a fake bomb threat to get the aircraft with the parents to return.

And the creative plan succeeded… at least in part.

even though the 23-year-old man managed to get the EasyJet plane from Lyon, with 159 passengers on board to turn around and thus send his parents back, so managed the authorities to track the student’s anonymous call, and subsequent arrest him.

– the Man behind the threat has been identified, says the public prosecutor in Rennes, in a written statement, where he confirms that the 23-year-old students did not want to get his parents on the visit and therefore took the alternative methods in use.

the Incident happened on the afternoon of the 18. January, and the 23-year-old is still in police custody and at worst can look forward to a fine of 75,000 euros (560.000 dollars) and up to five years in prison.

He is accused of submitting ‘false threats that threatened the safety and security on board an aircraft’ and should in court the 21. may.

EasyJet has confirmed the incident to The Independent and says the following:
