About 60 people are feared to be trapped in a collapsed gold mine on the indonesian island of Sulawesi.

emergency personnel have provisionally found a fatal victim, while at least 13 people have been injured.

Efforts to find survivors after the collapse, which happened on Tuesday evening, is Wednesday still in progress.

– Up to 60 persons are estimated to be buried under landslides and rock falls, informs Indonesia’s disaster response in a message Wednesday.

– because of numerous mineskakte and unstable land broke the beams and støtteplader suddenly collapsed, said Sutopo Purwo Nugroho, spokesman for the disaster management.

With no or few safety precautions it can be risky to work in the kind of illegal mines.
