After yesterday’s fire in a house in Roquetas de Mar (area of Las 200 houses), a man was evacuated to Hospital de Poniente de Almeria. Another person was treated at a hospital.
The events occurred at 55 Casablanca Street in Roquetas de Mar. At 4:25 p.m., several notices warned about a fire in the house. Witnesses said that it was “squatted” and had suffered similar incidents in the past. The 112 Andalucia Emergency Service indicated that the house was “uninhabitable” at this time.
Poniente Firefighters, medical personnel, the Local Police of Roquetas de Mar, and the Civil Guard all went to the spot. Their agents removed two people from the property. They even had to be treated later. Due to the smoke inhaled during rescue, they were treated by the medical services.
According to the Almeria Civil Guard Command several agents went to the third floor of an unassisted building and knocked down the door. The apartment was then “propped up from within with cement blocks and furniture.”. They heard two people call for help.
After going through the door, they discovered a face-down person on the floor of the room. They led him outside. After discovering that there was another person in the house, the agents returned to the house and found her “semi conscious”. The agents grabbed her ankle and dragged her into the living room.
Agents returned to the house three times to ensure there was no one else. They had to use the toilets because of the smoke inhalation. A crew of firefighters put out the fire.
