After the threatening phone call against a Düsseldorf Christmas market, the police authorities are investigating a connection with two other threats on the same day: in Düren, a caller threatened to commit a crime in the secretariat of a vocational college in Düren on Monday, and at a school in Münster. The third case was not reported by the police, but was confirmed to the dpa by the authorities on request.

The police headquarters in Düsseldorf, Cologne – responsible for the case in Düren – and Münster also confirmed that they are each examining a connection with the other calls. It was very striking that there were suddenly three similar calls in one day, police sources said.

According to a spokeswoman, the police in Münster had checked the threat and classified it as a false alarm. The vocational college in Düren was closed, evacuated and searched. In Düsseldorf, the police cleared several Christmas markets one after the other. Heavily armed forces were on site. In Düsseldorf and Düren the all clear was given again in the evening.
