British Midland Regional Limited announced on Saturday that all flights of the daughter company flybmi be terminated with immediate effect and flybmi has gone into insolvency. As a reason, the mother house called due to the upcoming Brexit caused uncertainty and higher fuel prices.

Flybmi had so far, with a fleet of 17 machines, 25 cities in Europe flights to. The company employed 376 employees in the UK, Germany, Sweden and Belgium. In the code-sharing method, it worked together with Lufthansa and Air France.

The Airline had “decided with a heavy heart” to the step, it was said on the Website of flybmi. The future prospects are however affected by the “from Brexit process caused uncertainty difficult”. Flybmi had no contracts for the period after the Brexit secure and feared that the British withdrawal from the EU no European targets to fly to. (roy/AFP)
