Mr Judge, you are an Irishman, 22 years old and study at the University of Dublin. What you have to do with the BER-to -?

I’m currently writing my bachelor thesis about the new Berlin-Brandenburg airport. At the end of April, beginning of may, you should be ready.

What do you want to be?

I am studying in Dublin air traffic management. I want to build my career in airports, new Terminals. I definitely want to build the new Terminal in Dublin. However, it will take ten, 15 years, to the is planned.

order As they came for their bachelor’s thesis, because, of all things, on the BER?

I’ve been looking for a project. And then I remembered a story that told me my mother a few years ago, namely the Berlin-Brandenburg airport, which could not be opened in 2012 all of a sudden. She is German, from Horn, Germany, a small village in the vicinity of Magdeburg. I’m also flying a lot to Berlin, to visit my grandparents there. I was wondering why I have still heard nothing from the opening. Also my teachers and friends in Dublin didn’t know it, as the Airport would be a Ghost. This has piqued my interest.

What do you want to explore because to the BER?

I want to find out what was going on, why it went wrong. Technical problems, such as with the Anti-fire systems, I had already heard. I want to know how it could happen, if the experts who have planned and built, had the Knowledge and the necessary Know-how. Me the management perspective interested. I want to know whether the project was properly structured, with Notes on the errors and abuses has been handled. At the University, we should learn how to manage projects well.

How far are you?

I already have a lot of Material. I recently had two days in Berlin, have lecturers, for example, the Brandenburg state court of auditors, a high-school or even spoken to them. The airport itself has, unfortunately, rejected a conversation. Other project participants that I contacted on LinkedIn, have canceled, citing its duty of confidentiality. Andreas Otto to the group of the Greens in the house of representatives has sent me documents. All of this is very helpful.

you are studying air traffic management. How do you experience from this perspective as a passenger, the old Berlin airports?

so far, I am always on Schönefeld to Berlin, Ryanair. During my studies I made a few years ago a project on how to improve safety controls at Dublin airport, which processes can accelerate. As a good example, I headed at the time, the beautiful fields Terminal C, where you can go and, if you are not more than hand Luggage through the security control without having with the other passengers wait.

The BER is now open in 2020. They believe that it works this time?

to be Honest, I don’t think so. I guess, the BER is maybe opened once, but not 2020.

Would it irritate you also, to build in Berlin airport?
