Hoogstraten Sterkstokers will soon launch ‘Love Potion’ on the market, a unique gin with ingredients that are to be praised for their irritating effect. To that, in practice, allowed ten singles on Valentine’s day the gin come have a tasting.
Sterkstokers has in the past been extracted with some unique sterkedranken and for companies, associations, charities or football clubs also arranged a gin or vermouth.
Now Thomas Cuyvers re gin on its own range to add. The master-distiller popped up over the past days and weeks in his room and extracted a gin with a few for the public at large unknown ingredients that an ‘amorous’ reputation.
“Hence, also, of course, the name Love Potion,” laughs Thomas Cuyvers. “I am really looking for special herbs.”
Ingredients
Rosemary, hibiscus, and roses. That sounds somewhat familiar in the ears. But for wormwood, paradijszaad and Japanese sansho, that is less the case.
“Wormwood is a mediterranean herb that I have ever seen on a stock market encountered a herbal doctor”, tells Cuyvers. “I went with her to talking and it turned out perfect for a vermouth. But now I’m going for the Love Potion to use. Wormwood was by the Greek writer Hippocrates already described as an aphrodisiac. The emperor Nero, there must also be a genuine lover of his.”
The Japanese sansho learned Cuyvers also in the same way know. “That herb is given its name ” electric herb’. If you taste it, you get literally water in the mouth.”
Paradijszaad
it’s still the paradijszaad.
“That is an herb that in the eighteenth and nineteenth century elixirs was used and was known to be rather sexually exciting,” laughs Thomas Cuyvers.
“Not everyone should have in house and if you are caught, then you got even a fine of 200 gold francs. There we add also has rosemary to the what the favorite herb of the Greek goddess Aphrodite. And the scent of roses and hibiscus is still in a love potion, isn’t it ?”
