Electrical mikrobiler with the usable range can be hard to find at dealers, but now begins one of bilbranchens great actors to stir.
To may will the VW group launch an electric Skoda Citigo, which can already be booked in Norway, and after the summer holidays followed by a new edition of the søstermodellen VW e-Up, which has been on the market since 2013.
The new model will get ‘longer range’ and will be presented at the motorudstillingen in Frankfurt this september. It has VW’s sales and marketing chief Jürgen Stackmann, confirmed to the media Auto Express.
The current Volkswagen e-Up costs from 182.000 dollars at home and have, according to the manufacturer a range of 160 kilometers.
the Car costs about 78.000 dollars more than the cheapest Up with the five doors and the internal combustion engine, and last year, according to the FDM sold just 19 copies of the model. For comparison, at the same time sold 421 copies of the slightly larger Renault Zoe, running up to 317 kilometers on one charge.
Jürgen Stackmann, however, will not yet reveal how much longer the range, the new VW e-Up gets.
– the Market downstairs (VW’s new ID. electric car, red.) will be filled out by the amazing e-Up, which gets a longer range and will be on display at Frankfurt, he said to Auto Express, and adds:
– We are working to give a new life to the e-Up. It has a big role to play in the next three to four years.
If Volkswagen will match or perhaps even exceed the electric Skoda Citigo, which is on the way, there can be a quite big upgrade of the scope. The Norwegian Skoda-importer wrote in the beginning of april on its website that the new Citigo will have a range of up to 260 kilometers after the WLTP-measurement method.
in Addition to the VW e-Up and the Skoda Citigo, according to Auto Express the meaning that the third søsterbil in the flock, Seat Mii, must transition to electrical operation. The information on this model, however, have so far been very sparse.
the Media is writing that the VW group in the medium term has intentions to build a brand new, small electric car at the same MEB-platform as the brand’s other electric models. The electric technology is still so expensive that, according to Auto Express can go several years before we see such a car dealers.
in return we get to september allowed to see the first member of Volkswagen’s new family of electric vehicles. It has been provisionally dubbed the ID. and being the size of a VW Golf.
