A county in New York has banned unvaccinated children from public places to combat a large mæslingeudbrud.

It informs byrådsformanden in Rockland County, which is located in one of New York’s northern suburbs, at a press conference on Tuesday.

at the same time, the county declared a state of emergency, after more than 150 people have been infected with measles since last fall.

Byrådsformand Ed Day hope that the ban will get some parents to wake up and realize the seriousness of the problem.

– here is a wake-up call. It is no doubt about that, he says.

the Prohibition to reside in public places valid until further notice in 30 days for anyone under 18 years of age, not vaccinated against measles. The ban includes places to meet, such as schools, shopping malls, restaurants and churches.
