Several times over the years the swedes managed to respond to a threat with style.
As in the 1650’s, when the Danish king Frederik 3. sent a declaration of war to Karl 10. Gustav, and the latter ended up taking most of Denmark by going over the ice on both the little belt and the great belt. Or when a million swedes in the early 1900s took the consequence of poverty and emigrated to the UNITED states.
Now the swedes put an to even is an answer, and this time it is the u.s. threat to the country’s auto industry, the Tesla Model 3. With the hope of the americans to make electric cars mainstream, but it will soon get a Swedish rival in the form of Polestar 2: An electric car that on both the price, usability and form should compete with Teslaen.
the Polestar, which is a new independent brand under Volvo, have just unveiled the first official pictures of the car, which is scheduled to go into production next year.
Polestar promises that the new sedanmodel will be able to run 500 kilometers on a charge, offer 408 horsepower and cost about 40.000 euro in Europe – roughly 300.000 kroner before taxes and fees.
In the first 12 months of production however, it will only be possible to buy a somewhat more expensive model – a so-called ‘launch edition’ – which will cost 60.000 euro or just under 450,000 crowns.

Automotive News has compared the price list with european prices on Model 3, which according to the media starts at dkk 55,400 euros for a model with a 560 kilometer range. Here also available a special ‘performance’version for 66.100 euro.
at Home does a Tesla Model 3 from 470.000 euros. Polestar 2, however, will not take up the fight against Tesla in Denmark just preliminary, as the model to begin with only to be sold in nine countries, including six european: Sweden, Norway, Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, united kingdom.

Polestar 2 is, as the name implies, the second car in the row from the new Swedish brand. The first car, the Polestar 1, is a pluginhybrid with both internal combustion and electric motor, but it will be according to Automotive News, only produced in a limited number.
Here Polestar 2 to a greater extent mass produced. Opposite the news agency Reuters says Polestar-chief Thomas Ingenlath, that he goes after to sell ‘on the other side of 50,000 models per year, within the first year of production.
