Monday morning was a British Airways flight from London to the German city of Dusseldorf, but by mistake ended the crew and passengers, in the spot in Edinburgh – 844 kilometres from their destination.

the Pilots thought that they were going to the scottish capital, and had therefore typed it into the aircraft navigationscomputer, but how they got the misinformation is still unclear.

– It is completely, totally idiotic, says former director of Copenhagen Airports, Hans Christian Stigaard, en Ekstra Bladet tells him about the incident.

– You must not ask me how such a thing can be done, it is almost laughable. The here the otherwise excellent crew have in one way or another been told that they need to fly to Edinburgh.

the Crew noticed nothing unusual before they landed in Scotland, and the passenger was somewhat astonished to hear the ‘welcome to Edinburgh’ from the plane’s speakers.

the Story is totally foolish, but it indicates the with total clarity, that where there are people involved, there will be errors, ” says Hans Christian Stigaard.

– the Fault lies further back than the actual flight, the two pilots do not fly to Edinburgh, if they are going to Germany. So they’ve got to know that they need the path in one way or another.

After nearly two hours in Edinburgh, could the plane take off again and all came safely to Düsseldorf around at 13:00.

– You can rejoice in the fact that there are no dead and injured, but if I was a passenger, was I may have been a little småsur, says Hans Christian Stigaard.

in Fact, it is not the first time that a plane has ended up in the wrong airport.

– I can remember similar epsioder, but it is typically at airports, that are located close to each other. Edinburgh is the in the exact opposite direction of Düsseldorf, says Hans Christian Stigaard.
