east Jutland Police have in the past four-five months investigated a series of incidents in which citizens have told about a man who has approached children in the Midlands and in the north of Aarhus by, among other things, Director of School.

The previous investigations, however, suggest that there is a perpetrator, who is running around in eastern Jutland in a white van trying to entice children into the car.

It writes the east Jutland Police in a press release.

In two specific cases have reached by east Jutland Police found the man, who has been notified. The police have had contact with the driver of a white van in the Midlands, and yesterday they talked with a man, as an 11-year-old boy had been approached by in a car on the Bjørnkærvej at Randers. In both cases there was, according to the police assessment, talk about legal matters.

In the former case reviews also proved to be misunderstandings – for example, as a helpful mother in Hjortshøj, north of Aarhus was confused with a possible child molester.

– We take all reviews about possible child molesters seriously, and we try in each and every case to identify the person who has created the insecurity. There have been various signalementer and different descriptions of the car, the man has been running for, and our investigation gives us no reason to believe that, right now, is a particular offender in Jutland, running around and trying to entice children to run with him, says inspector Michael Kjeldgaard, east Jutland Police.

In some of the cases reviewed, the investigation provisionally, could not lead to a definitive clarification of what exactly happened. In other cases, it is the police’s assessment that there has been talk about misconceptions or situations that have provided a basis for further exploration.

– I can well understand that you as a parent are worried for your child, and we are pleased that the citizens are calling us if they see something suspicious, says Michael Kjeldgaard and continues:

– at the same time it is important that you do not suspect all that running around in a van. We’re currently not following a white van or another particular vehicle. But we are investigating, of course, all of the cases, where there has been something suspicious, like our preventive unit is on the cases and among other things, enters into a dialogue with the schools.

east Jutland Police continues the investigation of the incidents, there has not yet been clarified.
