Alost as If the inpakkunstenaar Christo there is gone, so see the classroom from the teacher Annelies De Vos of St. Jozefcollege in Aalst now. She gave a lesson about the art of Christo and asked the pupils 300 newspapers available to the class ‘address’. After two weeks, the job is finished. “And the students are thoroughly gone, even the yoghurtkommetje with a spoon of the teacher had to believe,” says this creative teacher.
The class of miss Annelies of the Sint-Jozefscollege in the Pontstraat in Aalst is from floor to ceiling packed with newspapers. “In the creaklas made all the children knowledge with Christo and his ‘wrapping art’. In their turn, were allowed to all primary school children to help the muzo-local to address in newsprint,” says mrs. Annelies De Vos.
300 newspapers
There, a call was launched for the parents, because there were newspapers required. A lot of newspapers. “There are 350 pupils in the school and their parents delivered the newspapers. There was also a class that just with a krantenproject was busy and that newspapers are also used for our Christo-work of art. In total we used more than 300 newspapers,” says Annelies. “In Christo plays of sustainability and ecology an important role and there we have the children, pointed out. The newspapers were else to throw away, now we gave them a second life. The students have been here for two weeks working on it.”
students of the sixth grade were allowed to Monday morning to come and look at the finished inpakkunstwerk. Each class of the school worked. “When we had the walls are still pock-marked”, say Laura and Timoer, pupils of the sixth. “I thought it was a good idea of the teacher. I had never Christo heard, but I will his name certainly will not forget now,” says Timoer.
Nursery packs
The package went further than walls, chairs and tables. Of the walls, cabinets, tables and chairs, to the books, pencils, paintbrushes, decorations and even the yoghurtkommetje and spoon of the teacher and were carefully packed. “They really do have everything they had packed. The only condition was that it’s still usable. For example, the bin is still open, but he is packed. Also the cabinets and the fridge can be open, all you can see is that the cupboards and refrigerator if you don’t know because they are covered with newsprint. Only the coffee machine is really unusable,” says Annelies.
To the creaklas back in her original state is to appeal to the kindergarten classes of the school. “The children of the lower school have everything packed, everything extract is a job for the preschoolers. I think that really will be able to let off steam,” says Annelies.
