Several representatives from the City Council of Churriana de la Vega presented together with the Granada Provincial Council the contents of the tenth International Art Fair (Fiarte). Each edition features more than 100 artists, making the municipality of Granada the focal point for contemporary art during the celebrations.

The April 5th opening of the artistic exhibit will be followed by a month-long celebration. A collaborative exhibition between the City Council of Churriana (Provincial Council) will present works from more than 160 artists, representing 40 countries. These institutions work closely with the Fiarte Cultural Association where this cultural and artistic movement was born. Rosario Saez is the author of the poster.

This edition will highlight the diversity and origins of the works, demonstrating the consolidation of contemporary art. This edition will host many parallel activities that the configuring institutions will organize. The I Photographic Hunt by Churriana is one of the highlights, as well as several workshops that allow for the collaboration between different schools.

Trust Awards

The Fiarte Awards will be presented as part of the activities at the meeting. This award will be presented to Maria Teresa Gardon (local singer), Encarna Zimnez de Cisneros (journalist), Gorgonio Sanjuan (photographer) and Cesar Molina (sculptor). Yamal Din, the curator of the exhibition has created the sculpture for this award.

Fatima Gomez (provincial deputy for Culture of the Diputacion) presented the cultural activity with Antonio Narvaez, the churrian mayor. Gomez stated that “a fair such as this is already in its 10th edition speaks volumes about the municipality’s strength and vocation for permanence, opening up the limits of the municipality and becoming a magnet to local and international professionals and artists.”

Narvaez, for his part, stated that “from the public institutions we must continue support culture, which, is a fundamental component in society. Fiarte is an example that was created in our municipality and is now consolidated>>. The exhibition of photography, sculpture, and painting will be on display in the Municipal Center of Culture of Churriana De la Vega from Monday through Friday. It is open between Monday and Friday.
