A self-proclaimed climate activist is said to have sealed at least ten fast-food shops and restaurant locks with superglue early Monday morning in Greifswald. The 32-year-old is a fighter for good nutrition and veganism and wanted to draw attention to various abuses in these areas. Political slogans were also smeared on the shops.

Police arrested him around 4:30 a.m. after a short pursuit on foot. The masked man had behaved conspicuously in shops in the fish market area.

The suspect assigns himself to the “second very last generation” and is suspected of having planned further damage to property based on police findings. He is currently in custody. A judge will decide later in the day how long he can stay there to prevent possible further crimes.

In a letter to the city of Greifswald, participants from the last generation had announced that they wanted to disrupt the city of Greifswald from Monday by resisting the “current course”.

The state protection of the Anklam Criminal Police Inspectorate has taken over the ongoing investigations at the crime scenes and the accused.
