Also George Clooney has given his support to the campaign against the small southeast asian state, which will be led with the hard hand of the country’s sultan, Hassanal Bolkiah.

on Friday announced a number of businesses that they no longer want to use the five-star hotel. Among the companies are big ejendomsfirmaer and the media The Financial Times, which now have cancelled planned events at the hotel.

The English national ballet, Make-A-Wish foundation and Tempus Magazine has also stated that they will now reconsider its cooperation with the hotel.

Europe’s biggest bank, Deutsche Bank, has gone a step further and decided to ban its employees to stay in all the hotels owned by Brunei.

‘The new laws, Brunei has introduced, violating the most basic human rights, and we believe it is our duty as a company to take action against them,’ says the bank’s CRO, Stuart Lewis in a message.
