Manuel Francisco Garcia, the Territorial Delegate for Sustainable Development, made a technical trip to Huescar to assist in the redesign of the INFOCA Forestry Defense Subcenter. During the visit, the territorial representative stated that the new facilities would house, once complete, ground firefighting equipment as well as teams of firefighting professionals from INFOCA, such fire trucks, specialist groups, technicians, and so on. enhancing the protection of natural spaces in the region from forest fires>

These installations will be used during low forest fires to provide training, preparation and updating for personnel. They also serve as a base for technical planning for forest prevention and awareness programs for the Huescar area. The Subcenter will include a main building, which will contain rest areas, a kitchen and changing rooms. It also has a physical preparation area with the capacity to host a checkpoint. There will also be a machinery warehouse that can store two firefighting vehicles, as well as a storage space for materials. The facilities will also have car parking areas and gardens as complementary spaces. This is all on a total area of 756.30m2. It’s divided into the main building (206.75 m2), the machinery warehouse building (211.55m2) and the remainder, which are distributed in parks and gardens. . The work will cost 484,861 euro and take 14 months to complete.

The INFOCA Plan’s purpose is to identify and extinguish forest fires, and to resolve emergency situations that result from them. This includes the protection and safety of human life. The main threat to Andalusia’s survival is forest fires. They cause serious losses in the ecological, economic, and social spheres and also pose a danger to human lives. This is why infrastructures like the one we are visiting today are so crucial.
