In Brest, a city in belarus on the border with Poland, are in a mass grave the remains of probably thousands of executed Jews found. The skeletons were discovered in the excavation of a residential apartment complex and shopping mall. The victims were from the ghetto of Brest, where during the Second world War, 28,000 people were imprisoned by the nazis.

White Russian soldiers are currently involved in the excavation of the remains of both men, women and children. All of them were killed with a bullet, thus the bullet wounds on the skulls. the

600 skeletons have already been recovered, but it is expected that, in total, more than 1,000 will be found. The past three weeks were in the mass grave every day, 40 skeletons excavated. The construction work will be suspended until all the remains have been excavated. “We will not allow that on top of the bones of people is to be built,” says Alexander Rogachuk, the mayor of Brest.

Ghetto of Brest
