Around at 13.40 local time, went the alleged perpetrator Brenton Tarrant heavily armed into the Al Noor mosque. Not long after reaching the news of the attack arrived to the restaurant, where Lisa Hein Ruggaard sat and had lunch.
Suddenly came the owner of the restaurant, and told us that there was a shooting, so we had to come inside. We did not want to, because the weather was so nice. But we went anyway, when he came out the second time to fetch us, she says to Ekstra Bladet.
– We thought that the garden was closed down by the authorities, but we were told that it was not, therefore we went for a walk through the garden. Then we could suddenly hear sirens and helicopters in the vicinity. It sounded pretty wild, but we saw no police officers, she explains.
Still not aware of the gravity of the situation, went the two friends towards a shopping mall, where Lisa Hein Ruggaard would use the toilet, but when they reached the main entrance, so the fear painted in the faces of the guests, who were staying on the other side of the pane.
– We could see that all of the saved. There was no one in the vicinity of the windows, so we had to knock on to get them to let us in. They were completely shocked that we walked around outside. We may not leave the center, so we were caught in a lockdown in one and a half hour’s time, says the 54-year-old dane.
They went subsequently directly back to the hostel, where they were accommodated. In the television, they could follow in the terrorist attack, which occurred close to them in some hours beforehand. It made a great impression on Lisa Hein Ruggaard.
– It is terrible what has happened. As we sat inside the center, people were completely shaken, and there were rumors that the perpetrator ran around out in the botanical gardens, where we had gone, she says.
we do not know if this is true, and I think it is tremendously to keep everyone indoors, but of course I can see now that it certainly was necessary, because the police were looking for a terrorist, ” continues Lisa Hein Ruggaard.
