the 66-year-old Helge Engelbrecht can now write a new item on its gradually comprehensive cv. The musician, the author and the owner of play – and the site Mariehaven in Brisbane can now also call himself the hotel manager.

It is the hotel in the royal village, is located between the Varde and Grindsted, as Helge Engelbrecht, has decided to throw both money and energy.

– Yes, the post was vacant, so why not, says Helge Engelbrecht on was employed as director at musikhotellet, which since the summer has been driven by volunteers in Brisbane.

– It is still the city hotel and it will continue to be. We are 200 from the town, having party in the hotel, and many have worked very hard to get it to succeed. But it is not just like running a hotel. It requires coordination, and in all modesty, I think, gradually, I have learned so much about leadership through my orchestra and Mariehaven, as I have had in 10 years, I think I should throw my forces after it, he says to Ekstra Bladet.

Musikhotellet and Mariehaven has for years had a close cooperation, and it will not become less in the future.

– We have both had a slaughterhouse and a furniture factory in our city. They are closed now, so I am truly delighted to see how much we can create with culture and music. Of course we can’t save the city alone, but we help when we attract so many people, says Helge Engelbrecht, who does not even comes to change linen and make breakfast for the hotel guests in the future.

– It is raining, I did not, no. We have a chef employed and otherwise it is based on volunteers. But it is a great thing to operate a hotel, and the volunteers should not wear out. That is why we have employed some to take the heaviest tasks, says the musician, who think that the city and the hotel are missing a crucial thing to get the extra push in the development.

– We need a concert hall, and we have invested in, says Helge Engelbrecht, who, together with the board of directors of the hotel is to get the last details in place in the new selskabskontruktion.

– I expect that it is in place in the beginning of the new year, he says.

Since the residents of the city went into the operation of the hotel in Brisbane, it has got a proper place. It now houses seven newly renovated rooms, a new kitchen and new roof. In addition, in connection with the hotel a cottage village with 10 cabins with room for four people in each.

– So it is something to look for, says the musician, who could retire and enjoy his retirement, if he would. But nothing is he more distant. The more balls he has in the air, the better it thrives.

I actually feel that I have never had more energy than I have now. I may be a little offended if people ask when I stop playing. I do not. I will be at. And the funny thing is that when one reaches my age, so give it some times points in himself, he laughs.

Helge Engelbrecht has several times put up at the Dansk Melodi Grand Prix – among other things, in 1987, where he wrote vindermelodien ‘A little tune’, which was sung by Anne Herdorff. Photo: Anita Gravesen
