The nationwide corona incidence was 178 at the beginning of the week – and thus only slightly lower than a week earlier.
In the new week, the incidence could fall below 100 in some regions, with Bavaria and Thuringia being the main candidates, but also Baden-Württemberg and Saxony.
In general, however, a bottom appears to have been reached, as can be seen, for example, from the development of the 7-day average of the new cases.
In nine of the 16 federal states, the incidence is even higher compared to the previous week.
The number of corona deaths reported to the RKI had risen significantly from a greatly reduced level in the course of the autumn wave, and was around 1000 for several weeks in a row.
In the past calendar week, 882 deceased were registered, fewer than in any of the previous six weeks.
The values from the previous week include around 100 cases that were subsequently reported from Baden-Württemberg.
