“Death toll rises after dammras in Brazil”
“The dismal figures after the devastating dammraset at an iron ore mine in the state of Minas Gerais in Brazil has risen to 125 dead and 182 missing persons, according to the authorities.”
“The missing are feared to be dead, but have not been able to be located in the massive mud that gushed out when the dam burst on 25 January. Rescue work has continued to worsen the last few days as a result of persistent heavy rains that have limited opportunities to fly the helicopter over the scene of the accident.”
“In virtually all of the victims in the accident were working in the mine. They were buried under the tide of mud which pulled in over one of the mine’s canteens, when the dam burst.”
