Buggenhout Jurgen R. has never had the intention to Jens The Block from Sint-Niklaas to kill, that leaves attorney Frank Scheerlinck know. The man was on march 19 arrested after nearly twenty years because he is, through DNA-research as a suspect was identified in this case. The DNA was used from the research of the kanaalmoord from Buggenhout, where the accused is two years in prison for, because he helped in hiding the corpse. “He is innocent of murder or manslaughter,” said Frank Scheerlinck.

What is just played on 22 October 2000, it is still not clear. The court has, after almost twenty years, defendant Jurgen R. was arrested, but the motive, or his role in the case is at this moment still unclear. “It is true that he does indeed make declarations against the federal judicial police, but not against the judge,” says Scheerlinck. “What he has stated, I will not declare, that is a secret of the investigation. It’s not about the guilt or innocence, that is in the courtroom, but I do want to clearly say that he did not intend to Jens to kill”, sounds.

Jens The Block was on that particular October a few times and stabbed with a beer glass and then with a knife killed. Jurgen R. would have been involved in the facts, but the public prosecutor’s office suspects that there are other persons also played a role. Until today, there are still no new suspects arrested.

Bart Gijsen, lawyer Yves H. explains some of the puzzle pieces in each other. “I have the file still is not available on this new case and I also have my client had not yet been spoken, but I notice still a thread with the file of the kanaalmoord,” said Gijssen. “He applied when his explanations, lied and pushed the debt off, and that it appears he is now back to explain according to that I have read”, what it sounds like. During the process in the kanaalmoord suggested Yves H. also that he was something knew about Jurgen R. “Maybe it was, however, about this,” said Gijssen. “If this is so, then my client would never suggest if he also is involved seems to me, that would be really stupid. Soon I see my client again, and it’s possible there is more clarity”, it sounds.

The defence of Jurgen R does not agree. “We want to emphasize that Jurgen R. no fabulous. He always has his innocence, to stand, and that also proves the judgment in the kanaalmoord, where Yves H. was sentenced to 30 years and Jurgen R. the acquittal was (R. was the acquittal for murder, but two years in prison because he helped in the hiding of the corpse)”, decision Scheerlinck.
