The Post subsidiary DHL Paket will increase the prices for business customers at the turn of the year. The reasons for this are the volatile development of energy prices and the increased transport and personnel costs, the Post announced on Monday in Bonn. The prices for DHL parcel shipping by private customers remain unchanged.
In addition to a significant increase in the base price, the price measure also includes the introduction of two new surcharges, the company announced. This involves a variable energy surcharge and a peak surcharge in times of particularly high parcel volume.
The energy surcharge will be charged from January 1st. Its amount is determined monthly in a transparent and comprehensible manner on the basis of the price development of diesel, gas and electricity. The weighting of the three components is based on the energy mix of an average shipment, the Post reported.
In the months of November and December, which are particularly high in terms of volume due to Christmas, the company also intends to levy a peak surcharge of EUR 0.19 per shipment. The reasons for this are high, necessary investments in the company’s own infrastructure, high personnel costs and higher purchase prices – especially around Christmas.
Part of the price increase is also an adjustment of the toll and CO2 surcharge. This increases by EUR 0.01 per shipment due to rising toll rates and higher CO2 prices per ton.
The increases relate to DHL parcel shipping for business customers and do not affect national and international DHL Express business.
