As slutreplik in the debate we started with a letter to the editor about euthanasia for terminally ill pets and people, we want to cite the following:

We noted that the vets can be prosecuted if they do not give euthanasia to animals, while the doctor may be liable, be punished and lose your id card if they give euthanasia to people in their own express request.

submits support for our position on voluntary euthanasia as a medborgarfråga and agree with our approach to such a suicide – in the carefully clinically specific cases – is ultimately a question of respect for the patient’s integrity and self-determination.

Sven Román does not accept this respect and states ”risks” with voluntary euthanasia to people, but maintains no documentation to support this. There are 20 years of experience and extensive data from several countries/states, which strongly suggests that laws and regulations on the application have been able to reduce the suffering and thereby brought respect for dying patients ‘ integrity and self-determination.

A similar argument about the ”risks”, Leif Engström, who is obviously not familiar with the Oregon model, because the doctor there is not active helpers of the dying, and only in a minority of cases, even present when the patient ends his life. It is the difference between the Benelux model and Oregonmodellen, where euthanasia, euthanasia, is illegal.

also in Switzerland, where the law requires that the patient (and the doctor) brings to the deadly drug. It is a shame that the Swedish ALS patients are forced to travel to Switzerland in order to end unbearable suffering. Terminally ill patients must be well-off or långtidsspara for a help many sick citizens of other countries take for granted.

P C Jersild has as the wise doctor and empatiske the philosopher and author said it had to be said and repeated: ”he who voluntarily and with good reason, asking for help to die threatens no other life. In a democratic society, people should, therefore, possess the civil rights. At the same time as the one who is against euthanasia shall be guaranteed the right to be free. It is neither the proponents or dödshjälpsmotståndarna preference. We will never achieve consensus. Harder than that is actually not the ethical issue of euthanasia”.

in Sweden We have a strong opinion for voluntary euthanasia when all hope is out. The politicians fegar out and do not want to even investigate the issue. The association the Right to a dignified death (RTVD) is open to all who want to engage in this important issue.
