This is a call and appeal to all concerned to Swedish politicians, authorities and instances: stopping immediately and until further notice, all deportations of afghan asylum seekers who have been refused their asylum application. Until a comprehensive, thorough and independent investigation of the current security situation in Afghanistan has been made.
An expert report from last summer (Johan Chytreaus 5 July) and the testimony of the journalists indicate that the situation may have worsened in the country last year and this year. For example, learn IS have become more active and strengthened their positions in the area.
the american colonel in Afghanistan, in a feature in the SVT News that the security in the country is worse than in a long time. A verksamhetsexpert at the Swedish migration board Kjell-Terje Torvik, said in an interview ( Home.see 12 July) that he at his last visit last year in the capital Kabul not allowed to stay freely outside of their (of the Swedish embassy) sheltered accommodation. Torvik argues that, despite everything, is relatively ”safe for the refugees to return to Afghanistan. It is possible to live there and build a working existence in the country”.
This is contradicted, however, by the powerful security protected accommodation, guards, bullet-proof vests and bullet-proof vehicles – such as the european embassies in Kabul is taking to protect its staff and its citizens on visits to the city. Incidentally, discourages the Swedish ministry of foreign affairs from all the trips into Afghanistan with the reason of security.
elections were held in Afghanistan, an election that was marred by civil unrest and severe violence. Officially recorded 160 fatalities, but according to the AFP news agency there were about 300 people who were killed just on the actual election day.
A more medieanknuten consequence of the gravity of the situation was that the Swedish Television’s foreign correspondent Bert Sundström – along with many of his other internationally active foreign journalistkollegor – were not allowed to enter the country, to observe the elections on the spot. The situation there was clearly far too dangerous.
In such a mode, where the Swedish public service entirely according to the MINISTRY’s dissuasion can not even think to send an experienced and scarred war correspondent to Afghanistan in the election, Sweden can not, in human terms and with honor and glory in the keep, send back the young asylum seekers to the krigshelvete that the Afghanistan of today most likely is.
