Blankenberge In Blankenberge is an end to a time-honored tradition among badkarhouders. The draw for the allocation of a ticket for the beach bars make place for a new system with concession. The city council wants to so comply within the legal framework. Under baigneurs, which fear out of the boat to fall, dominates a feeling of dejection. “For many years we used our to the beach of Blankenberge on the map and hundreds of thousands of euros invested. Now we have to suddenly provide for our own success.”
No, it was not a pleasant meeting between the baigneurs and the city council of Blankenberge Tuesday morning. The subject was not obvious: the abolition of the draw among badkarhouders from next year. “A necessary operation”, explains mayor Daphné Dumery (N-VA) the unpopular decision. According to her it was the lotingsysteem not more in line with the European legislation and was the city council was required to intervene. A system with concession – and, perhaps, so with their degrees in the place. For the badkarhouders feels that decision as a blow in the face.
Back on the map
Traditionally came the baigneurs in Blankenberge together for their ‘lottery number’ to lottery tickets. Simply said: every year they were in a different place, but there was, however, certainty that they are there each year could remain. With the new system fear a lot of badkarhouders out of the boat to fall. “What if someone comes in with a bag of money waving and a beach bar like? Then will the city government will inevitably choose to do so. I find it very ungrateful,” says Kurt Govaere of Bamboo Beach.
