After eating mushrooms they collected themselves, a couple and their adult daughter from Bous in Saarland were taken to the hospital with severe symptoms of poisoning. As the police announced on Sunday, the 69-year-old father and his 66-year-old wife complained of malaise and hallucinations shortly after eating on Saturday. The man fell and injured his head. According to the police, the wife managed to alert the neighbors, who then called 911.

When the police officers found out that the daughter had also eaten the mushrooms, they drove to the 44-year-old’s apartment, where they first met her partner. He told the police that his partner had gone to bed because of nausea. Rescuers found her there in critical condition.

As a police spokeswoman said, the three patients were not in danger on Sunday. The family thought they were collecting honey fungus. “According to the current state of knowledge, the poisoning is due to a preparation error.”
